Glossary of Terms

Definitions

The following definitions apply throughout this documentation and to any agreement with our platform, unless the context otherwise requires. Terms used in the singular shall include the plural and vice versa, where appropriate.


“Agent” – Any party providing services on behalf of a third party. For example, the platform may undertake validations as an agent of a Host.

“Approved” – A status assigned to a Booking, Host, Guest, Listing, Platform, or Partner (or any third party) as the result of a successful validation process.

“Booking” – A confirmed reservation registered through the platform, involving an Approved Guest staying at an Approved Listing.

“Chargeback” – A payment card charge that is returned to the cardholder after successfully disputing a transaction.

“Contents” – Personal property within a Listing, including household items, art, antiques, collectibles, cash, vouchers, travel tickets, etc., but excluding jewelry, watches, handbags, or furs unless securely locked in a safe and inaccessible to guests.

“Cosmetic Damage” – Superficial damage that does not affect the property’s usability, such as scratches, scuffs, or minor dents.

“Damage Waiver” – An agreement where a Guest’s liability for Property Damage is waived up to a specified limit in exchange for a non-refundable payment.

“Effective Date” – The date on which the last party signs a contractual agreement.

“Group Company” – Any parent, subsidiary, or affiliate company of the platform provider.

“Guarantee” – The guarantees provided under the platform’s programs, either individually or collectively.

“Guarantee Payment” – Any payment made by the platform on behalf of a Host or Guest following a valid Payment Request under a Guarantee.

“Guest” – The lead individual making a Booking.

“Guest Agreement” – The binding terms between the Guest, the Host, and the platform.

“Guest Guarantee” – The protection offered to Guests regarding Approved Listings and Hosts as defined in the Guest Guarantee Terms.

“Guest Protection Programme” – A guarantee protecting Hosts against legal liability for bodily injury or property damage to Guests, only when their insurance cannot pay due to insolvency.

“Home Standards” – A set of minimum requirements to ensure a Listing is functional and safe, including:

  • (a) Functional sleeping areas, plumbing, and sewage systems;

  • (b) Basic security measures (e.g., locks);

  • (c) Operational utilities such as Wi-Fi, heating, and air conditioning if advertised.

“Host” – A verified individual or entity advertising an Approved Listing via a recognized short-term rental platform.

“Host Guarantee” – The terms governing the relationship between a Host and the platform.

“Listing” / “Property” – A residential property (including temporary structures like boats or campervans) legally offered by a Host for short-term rental and compliant with Home Standards.

“Not-Approved” – A status assigned when a Booking, Guest, Host, Listing, Platform, or Partner fails Validation.

“Partner” / “Client” – A third party with a commercial agreement with the platform.

“Payment Request” – A formal request for reimbursement under a Guarantee.

“Platform” / “STR Marketplace” – Any recognized short-term rental website (e.g., Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com) or the platform’s own website and apps.

“Platform Account” – A user’s account on a third-party STR platform through which access is granted to certain user information.

“Property Damage” – Physical harm to the Property, its fixtures, or Contents caused by the Guest or occupants during a Booking. Excludes Cosmetic Damage and Wear and Tear.

“Security Deposit” – A deposit held by the platform on behalf of the Host, refundable subject to inspection after a Booking.

“The Platform” / “Company” – Refers to the service provider (e.g., the website, app, or company delivering the services and associated guarantees).

“Validation” / “Verification” / “Verify” – The process used to determine if an entity or event qualifies as Approved or Not-Approved.

“Watchlist” – An internal database of entities or individuals who are precluded from being Approved based on past behavior, intelligence, or failed validation.

“Wear and Tear” – Gradual deterioration of Property or its Contents due to normal use over time.
